This NoMad Hotel London wedding was a Mediterranean-inspired Turkish-German-Bosnian affair, brimming with personal taste and meaningful little big moments.

Defne and Din came to me with a brief that, at first, I had mixed feelings about. How does one bring the Mediterranean to a venue like The Nomad Hotel in London? After months of planning, plotting and a few changes of mind, we did it! The entire day not only looked gorgeous, it was also so true to the couple – we were absorbed in their beloved olive tree energy and that warm Mediterranean feeling.

We used olive branches as the main ingredient for the day — a natural material very close to Defne and Din’s hearts, given their cultural backgrounds. Defne also has fond childhood memories of figs —the really dark ones— so we used these as well, naturally.

The colour scheme of olive mixed with the burgundy of figs and a touch of amber —a nod to burnt late summer tones— brought chic, calm and elegance to the setting. Additionally it merged so nicely with the colours present at the venue and of course the time of year. It was just delightful!

Guests were treated to a live guitarist and singer during the ceremony, performing the pair’s favourite love songs. This was followed by Turkish singer Çiğdem, who sang the most wonderful songs in Defne’s family’s native language. Later, the talented Rihab Abar played the oud during the post-dinner cocktail hour.

This multicultural London wedding was just as much about love as it was about meaning, deep connection, and bringing cultures together. Something that I can relate to well and feel very grateful to have been a part of.
